Adventure at the Frog Pond

We took the kids to a Frog Wetlands preserve yesterday. It's just down the street a few miles. The kids had fun walking the path around the pond. We did finally find some little frogs, right before we left. They were so tiny!

Grace in the Studio

I took Grace into the studio yesterday night and we took some photos. We were just having fun, I really just wanted to mess with my lights and try some different things. Grace was fun to work with, she even had her own ideas of how she wanted to pose.

We called this her mermaid hair picture.

Here's another "mermaid hair" picture.

I love the feet!

She has such pretty eyes!

Grace really wanted pictures in the tutu. I ordered it for young ones, so it's a little short, but I tried to make it work. It was tricky, but she really wanted tutu pictures. I really need to order her a tutu, just for her, and get her a cute shirt to match.

I cropped this in a square to focus on her face.

This one was all Grace's idea. She closed her eyes and held the flower in front of her and said, "take this picture mom." I like the way it turned out. So did she. She said, "see mom, you don't believe me, but I know what looks good."

I can't wait to take some more photos for other families. I have so many ideas.

Memorial Day

I spent Memorial Day in San Francisco. We stayed the night at an Embassy Suites on Sunday night and then toured San Fran on Monday. We drove down Lombard Street, "crookedest street in the world", and we drove through Golden Gate Park and stopped at and drove through the Presidio. We then stopped at the San Francisco National Park to actually observe Memorial Day. We explained to the kids that they should be respectful and quiet. I told them that these were men and women that died in service to their country. Mike and I were looking around, and I had started to snap a few pictures. When Mike said, "look". I turned around to see the girls kneeling in prayer before a tombstone. It was so amazing to see. My two little girls really understanding what the day was all about, and offering prayers for these brave soldiers. I of course took some photos. Grace continued to move from tombstone to tombstone with Maddie in tow. Noah eventually joined in as well.

I hope you all had a great Memorial day. We enjoyed ours.

I took these photos this morning. My first time photographing a pregnant woman. I really think it went well. We got some great shots! These are a few of my favorites.

I took these photos yesterday of my friend Julie's baby. They named Finn and he, as you can see, is so cute!! I found it a little tricky working with him. At three months they are pretty alert, moving and grooving and squirming. He was so happy all the time though, so a really easy baby all in all. I just can't wait to work with a newborn, they are so sleepy, tiny and floppy.

Photos I took of my neighbor and her family

I was able to photograph my neighbor and her kids today around 12:30pm. I don't usually attempt photos during the brightest part of the day, but we tucked them in the shade of some trees. It yielded pretty good results! I am pleased and so was she. Just to prove that we are our own worst critic, Carissa told me she wasn't happy with the way she looked. I couldn't believe it! She is a very up to date, stylish, and really beautiful woman! You look for yourself, but I'm sure you'll agree, she has nothing to worry about...she looks great!

Pictures of Grace

I took these pictures around 7 pm when it was pretty foggy out, but I wanted to test out the light in those conditions. It is often foggy here, so I needed to see if I could shoot under those conditions. I think the light was great, and personally I love these photos. I got some great shots of Grace. I feel like I'm getting better at posing the kids and getting the right looks from them.

I really love that I am going to make this love of photography into a business!! I have so many ideas, I can't wait to try them out.
